Kansas City Chiefs general manager Brett Veach understands that a contract extension for Patrick Mahomes is a huge priority for the franchise this offseason.

Mahomes is in line for a mega deal after leading the franchise to its first Super Bowl in 50 years, and there's no doubt that the front office will do what it needs to do to keep its star quarterback happy.

Veach appeared on PFT Live at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis and commented on the situation with Mahomes' contract:

“I think the cool thing about Pat and his agent is they realize he’s gonna make a lot of money, no one operates in the sense of taking the extreme team discount, but Pat is also very cognizant of wanting to be in a place like Kansas City and win a lot of Super Bowls. There are some things to help the team to make sure there’s always talent around him. It’ll take time, it’ll get done,” Veach said.

Mahomes had a magical season for the Chiefs, throwing for 4,031 yards and 26 touchdowns during the regular season and following it up with several incredible performances during the playoffs. He did miss several games during the regular season due to injury but returned to the field in a big way to lead Kansas City to a Super Bowl title.

His performance in Miami against the San Francisco 49ers showed just how much he continues to improve both as a quarterback and a leader, and that's certainly going to earn him a nice chunk of change in his new contract.

Mahomes simply has an incredible skill set, and it could be enough to lead the Chiefs back to another Super Bowl next season.
