The Kansas City Chiefs never hesitate to add more and more weapons to the team's always dangerous offense. With this past weekend being no different, the Chiefs selected former Utah State Aggies running back Darwin Thompson in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

While standing at just 5'8″ and weighing a mere 200 pounds, the soon-to-be rookie running back is already being compared to at least one player already atop the professional ranks of the NFL — former New England Patriots and current Tennessee Titans running back Dion Lewis.

“Worker-bee running back with a willingness to put the hard-hat on and make his living between the tackles despite a lack of size,” reads his 2019 NFL Draft profile on NFL.com. “Thompson runs with zeal, but his average foot quickness and delayed downhill trigger limits his ability to threaten beyond on the second level. He will be unable to outrun NFL speed to the corner so his future may be limited to what he can do between or over the tackles. He's versatile and tough enough to get a chance to compete for a spot at the back-end of the roster as a three-down backup prospect.”

The Chiefs are notably looking to replace a few key pieces of the team's once potent offensive attack. With fellow running back Kareem Hunt now a member of the surging Cleveland Browns, the future currently remains very uncertain for Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill, who will more than likely encounter a suspension sometime in the very near future.
