The Kansas City Chiefs haven't been an active team in free agency thus far due to their cap situation. But they did sign someone that could possibly improve their secondary. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Kansas City signed cornerback Antonio Hamilton to a one-year deal.

Before signing with the Chiefs, Hamilton apparently had a more lucrative offer from another team. However, the idea of playing for the reigning Super Bowl champions likely played a part in him taking less money.

As Schefter pointed out, Hamilton is the first free agent that Kansas City has signed this offseason. The only other move the Chiefs have made this offseason thus far is placing the franchise tag on Chris Jones.

While Hamilton isn't a household name, he's spent the past two seasons with the New York Giants. After starting in zero games in his first three seasons, Hamilton started in two games for the Giants in 2019.

In his first season playing in all 16 games, the South Carolina State product recorded 17 tackles and four pass breakups. Despite his lack of production, Hamilton could become a useful player for the Chiefs next season.

Following Kansas City's Super Bowl victory, Kendall Fuller has chosen to sign with the Washington Redskins in free agency. Besides Fuller, the Chiefs have a chance of losing Bashaud Breeland and Morris Claiborne in free agency.

With Patrick Mahomes needing an extension soon and the team having a limited amount of cap space, the Chiefs are targeting cost-effective players in free agency. After four days of being inactive in free agency, Kansas City has finally added their first free agent.
