Le'Veon Bell is about to suit up for the Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs. However, it's worth recalling that just a couple of years ago, the talented running back made a bet on himself and sat out for the entire 2018 season while with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Bell discussed the holdout and was asked if it's something he regrets now.

“Oh no, that never crossed my mind,” the Chiefs RB said on Tuesday, per Pro Football Talk. “I feel like me sitting out, I just kind of look at it as it kind of helped me out on the backend of my career, because last year when I came back, it felt like I was reset. It felt like I was a rookie all over again. I was so excited to get back on the field and really just get my gatherings back. So I don’t know, it kind of reset my body. I feel like it’s going to really help me for the end of my career.”

Le'Veon Bell bet on himself, and it paid off to an extent. He ended up signing a four-year deal worth $52.5 million that included a guarantee of $35 million with the New York Jets.

It's not every day that a player of Bell's magnitude holds out for an entire season, and while he got the money he wanted, his numbers have regressed significantly since his days with the Steelers.

Bell was one of the best backs in the league in the Steel City and had three seasons with more than 1,000 yards, but since leaving, he has yet to record a 1,000-yard season.

Still, Bell wound up with the Chiefs midseason and is excited to be playing in the Super Bowl. For what it's worth, he will once again test free agency in 2021.
