For the second straight week, the Kansas City Chiefs were trailing by double figures early on in the first half. For the second straight week, they rallied to take the lead into halftime and ultimately win the game.

On Sunday, the Chiefs fell behind 17-7 against the Tennessee Titans in the AFC Championship Game, but once again, Patrick Mahomes brought his squad back, and this time, it wasn't just with his arm.

Shortly before the end of the second quarter, Mahomes ripped off a 27-yard touchdown run, avoiding a sack, streaking down the sideline and shaking off multiple defenders in the process.

“I haven’t run that far since high school, I don’t think,” Mahomes told Peter King of NBC’s Football Morning in America.

Of course, Mahomes made sure to credit his blockers for opening up some holes:

“The offensive line shut everybody down, so I knew I could run to the sideline and get the first down,” he said. “So I tried to cut it back, and I did, a little. And luckily I hung onto the ball. … I was going for it.”

The score gave the Chiefs a 21-17 edge that they would not relinquish, as they went on to win the contest by a score of 35-24.

Mahomes completed 23 of his 35 passes for 294 yards and three touchdowns, carrying the ball eight times for 53 yards and that hectic score.

Now, the reigning MVP will get to compete in the Super Bowl, as Kansas City will take on the San Francisco 49ers in Miami in a couple of weeks.
