Some NFL head coaches inspire their players to take control of their on-field situations and get themselves into the best position to win the game. Some, simply do not. Always known as a “players coach,” Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is surely a part of the former group. Not only does Reid allow his players to have full control over what is happening from play-to-play, but according to quarterback Patrick Mahomes, he actually encourages it:

“Everybody has their input. I think that’s what makes us such a great team, a great offense, is we have communication throughout the game. Then we go out there and execute because Coach Reid gives us that freedom.” – Patrick Mahomes

This exact style of coaching has led Reid to become a Super Bowl champion and one of just seven coaches in NFL history to make a Super Bowl with two different franchises, having done so with the Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles. Reid has also been to the last two championships, winning Super Bowl 55 in 2020 and then losing Super Bowl 56 in 2021.

Reid will be trying to help get his team can return to the Super Bowl for the third year in a row when they take on the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday (their fourth straight AFC Championship). Also, if the Chiefs can make Super Bowl 57 this season in Los Angeles, they will become just the fourth team in NFL history to make it to the Super Bowl in three straight years.
