When the Buffalo Bills took Josh Allen with the seventh overall pick of the NFL Draft last spring, it was seen as a move that was based on potential rather than production.

Allen did not have a stellar collegiate career, as he was coming off of a rather lackluster junior campaign at Wyoming in which he threw for just 1,812 yards, 16 touchdowns, and six interceptions while completing 56.3 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 127.8.

However, at 6-foot-5 and nearly 240 pounds, Allen has great size, and he also has a rocket arm.

Better than the arm of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes? Mahomes is willing to settle that with a friendly competition.

“Josh is a great dude,” Mahomes said, according to Alex Brasky of The Batavia News. “But no one that I’ve known has been able to throw a ball farther than me. I’ve never seen Josh throw in person but maybe next offseason we can set something up [to see who can throw farther].”

Mahomes is really hoping to actually get this done.

“Hopefully I can get him to come down to Kansas City, and we can do something for charity,” he added. “It’s going to take at least 85 yards to win.”

The 23-year-old Mahomes is coming off of a 2018 campaign in which he racked up 5,097 yards, 50 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions while completing 66 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 113.8 en route to winning the MVP award.

Meanwhile, Allen started 11 games for the Bills, finishing with 2,074 yards, 10 touchdowns, and 12 picks.
