Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes has managed to pick where he left off during his MVP campaign in 2018 with a stellar start to the 2019 NFL season. Although Mahomes has started to piece together an impressive start to his Hall of Fame resume, it seems NFL analyst and former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman does not appreciate being used as a billboard on his road to Canton.

A report by The Athletic pointed out that Mahomes has now thrown for more than a third of Aikman's 165 career touchdown passes. It is safe to say that he did not take too kindly to this little factoid:

The report clearly did not sit well with Aikman. Despite being one of the most notable players in Cowboys' history, his numbers on a yearly basis were rather underwhelming. Of course, he was on a team whose success was largely predicated on the run and it led them to three Super Bowl titles during his 12 seasons in Dallas.

Regardless, Aikman still may want to consider a number of other factors before tooting his own horn. Mahomes was named MVP after leading the Chiefs to an AFC Championship in his first full season as a starter. Aikman did not win his first championship until after four seasons and a crop of future Hall of Famers joined him on both sides of the ball.

Aikman's comments indicate that an argument could be made once Mahomes is able to win his first Super Bowl.

It could only be a matter of time before he is forced to eat his words.
