The Houston Texans and Kansas City Chiefs will square off against one another on Sunday and all eyes will be on quarterbacks Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes. While they will be enemies on Sunday, Mahomes and Watson have a friendship that has lasted since their college days.

“If you’ve watched Deshaun since college, even since high school, they’re never out of a game. He’s someone who can make big plays happen no matter what the scenario is, and he’s going to fight until the end. And so you know that going into the game,” Mahomes said via ProFootballTalk.

On the other hand, Watson was complimentary of Mahomes when speaking about the Chiefs' quarterback. The two dynamic signal-callers played against each other during the regular season in Week 6.

“It’s cool to see a friend of mine and a guy that’s playing the same position as me have so much success,” Watson said, via ProFootballTalk. “It’s going to be dope. We played earlier this year, it was a good game, went back and forth. It’s just two good teams going head to head and we’re just trying to be the best we can for our team and help our team win.”

Even when Watson and Mahomes were at Clemson and Texas Tech, respectively, the future Texans and Chiefs gunslingers were fans of one another. That mutual respect has seemingly carried over into the NFL.

The two talented quarterbacks will forever be linked due to both of them being selected in the 2017 NFL Draft. Despite rooting for the other to succeed, they both understand that only one of them can walk away victorious on Sunday.
