When the Phoenix Suns traded for Chris Paul, it was widely touted as one of the best single moves in the offseason. A veteran All-NBA point guard should be able to work wonders with a young talented group like Devin Booker, Deandre Ayton, and the Suns. It's already clear that Paul has already taken the Suns to another level after just one game.

On the daily Locked On Suns podcast, host Brendon Kleen recaps the Suns' clutch win over the Mavericks and explains how Chris Paul is already making things easier for Booker:

Brendon Kleen: I think back to training camp last year where Monty Williams marveled about how Ricky Rubio and Devin Booker were already in one another's heads and didn't even have to communicate because of how they had already come to such an understanding of the system, the offense, the sets, and how to play off of one another. I think we're already seeing that with Paul and Booker, the through-line being Booker. I think that's a testament to his commitment and ability to sacrifice and just his overall intelligence for the game.

Those two guys played off of each other perfectly in crunch time. We saw a situation where Paul was able to draw Booker's defender away from him with Booker setting a screen, just a quick switch, a LeBron-like switch. Paul's a master at that these days as well. In this case, it was Booker with a high-post type of post-up, Booker goes to work, a couple of dribbles, and then took the mid-range jumper. Then we saw Paul, get to the elbow, mid-range pull-up jumper, also nailed it.

When you have two guys like this in crunch time, the offense becomes a whole lot easier. I was kind of chuckling to myself that Monty Williams was so brutally honest about that he said he didn't call much at the end of the game. He didn't have to, these guys just have the skill and the knowledge and the shotmaking ability to just make stuff happen.
