The world is just a few days removed from having witnessed one of the most gruesome conclusions ever in an MMA fight in which Chris Weidman was unfortunately involved. The grotesque moment of Weidman's right leg snapping like a twig while attempting a kick to Uriah Hall's left leg is still very much fresh in everyone's mind. If you're into more visuals, albeit a much lighter one, here's a few X-rays of Weidman's broken leg before and after surgery, as shared on Twitter by the former UFC Middleweight champion himself.

Those images are still painful to look at, but at least it appears that Chris Weidman is out of further danger. It will be a long road to full recovery from here on out for the 36-year-old fighter, whose future in the sport is currently up in the air. At his age, Weidman doesn't have a ton of time left in his career, but it's not fair to count him out just yet. It could be remembered that MMA great Anderson Silva also broke his leg in 2013 against Weidman but managed to get back to action and fight seven more times in the UFC.
Chris Weidman also opined that there's a possibility that he could start training again before the year ends, but based on where everything stands as of the moment, it's possible that it would take him even more time to make a comeback.
Weidman is not in a race against time, but he surely would like to finish his MMA career on his own accord — and in a less painful way.
The Team Serra-Longo Fight Team fighter once held and defended the UFC Middleweight belt three times before losing it to Luke Rockhold in 2015.
