Houston Texans rookie quarterback CJ Stroud led his team to a statement road win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, driving them into field goal range as time expired, and he explained how head coach DeMeco Ryan's mindset helped him throughout the game.

“We came in with a belief that we wouldn't be denied, ” CJ Stroud said, via Aaron Wilson of KPRC2.

Late in the game, CJ Stroud threw a rough interception that allowed the Bengals to get back into the game, and eventually they tied it with the Texans. Stroud revealed what DeMeco Ryans said to him after the interception.

“I got you,” Stroud explained what Ryans said to him. “It's all about toughness in this league.”

The interception by Stroud was only his second on the season, which is incredible for a rookie. Stroud is up to 15 touchdown passes, two interceptions and 2,626 yards on the season, according to ESPN. He is well on his way to winning offensive rookie of the year, and some experts are even saying he deserved MVP votes.

The most impressive thing is he has the Texans in the wild card race, when they were viewed as one of the weakest teams in the NFL just a season ago and heading into this season. It shows how a quarterback can change a lot for a team.

The Texans will face the Arizona Cardinals next week at home with a chance to move to 6-4. Although the Cardinals already have eight losses, Kyler Murray is back so they will not be a pushover.

It will be interesting to see if the Texans can grab another win and bolster their playoff chances.
