L.A. Clippers big man DeAndre Jordan has decided to sign with Jeff Schwartz of Excel Sports Management, who will serve as his new representation, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

Jordan had been without an agent since leaving Dan Fegan in the summer of 2015. Jordan’s agent-less status reportedly made teams hesitant to trade for him, but his new agent, Schwartz, will now be on hand to help Jordan plot his future with the Clippers moving forward.

Jordan is expected to become a free agent in the offseason after failing to come to terms with a contract extension with the Clippers over the summer. Although, the Clippers haven’t ruled out continuing to re-sign him, sources have told Wojnarowski.

However, Jordan has been subject to trade speculation recently given the Clippers’ disappointing start. With their playoff hopes taking a big hit following Blake Griffin’s knee injury, the Clippers could opt to move on from Jordan, their most valuable trade asset at the moment, in order to make further changes to the team.

As Jordan’s new agent, Schwartz could play a key factor in any trade. Teams will likely turn to him to gauge Jordan’s interest in signing with them long term before pulling the trigger on any deal.
