Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant came into the defense of Paul George after the Los Angeles Clippers star missed what would have been the game-sealing free-throws in Game 2 of their series against the Phoenix Suns.

Morant knew the PG slander was coming after the massive choke, but he made sure to remind everyone of how disrespectful it is.

With less than one second left on the clock and the Clippers leading 103-102, all Paul George needed to do was make his free throws–even just one that would have given them a comfortable cushion. However, he missed not one but both of his freebies, allowing the Suns to stage a comeback.

And comeback the Suns did, with Deandre Ayton catching an in-bound lob from Jae Crowder to get the lead, the W, and the 2-0 lead against the Clippers.

To George's defense and as Ja Morant suggests, the Clippers star was not solely to blame for the defeat. Sure, the free throws would have made a huge difference. However, LA should have defended better and prepared for a lob finish given that there is little time left remaining.

With that said, the Suns' options are actually pretty limited.

Moreover, George recorded a team-high 26 points on top of six rebounds and six assists. He was also the one who delivered the clutch shot with 22 seconds left that gave the Clippers the lead.

It was a rather unfortunate turn of events, and while fans are right to be disappointed, George shouldn't be the one to take the full blame.
