Los Angeles Clippers consultant Jerry West isn't sure the franchise could have traded for Paul George had Kawhi Leonard not recruited him.

Leonard convinced George to request a trade from the Oklahoma City Thunder to the Clippers. West says it was an unbelievable night when they got a commitment from Leonard and agreed to acquire George from the Thunder.

“Those players talked,” West said on the Dan Patrick Show. “And I'm not so sure that maybe if Kawhi hadn't had some influence on Paul that we would have been able to make a deal with Oklahoma City.”

The Clippers traded Danilo Gallinari, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and a bevy of draft picks to the Thunder in exchange for Paul George, who is from Los Angeles and one of the best players in the league. The Clippers now have a lethal dynamic duo of George and Kawhi Leonard leading the franchise. For the first time in its history, LAC is title contenders.

George signed a four-year, $136.9 million maximum contract with the Thunder last summer. Everyone expected the All-Star swingman to stay in OKC for the duration of that deal. It's amazing how Leonard was able to recruit PG to the Clippers. It looks like the quietest guys in the league are actually the best recruiters.
