The Los Angeles Clippers have reportedly extended a qualifying offer to big man Ivica Zubac, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Zubac now becomes a restricted free agent. The center can sign an offer sheet with another team if he wants to and then the Clippers would have 48 hours to match the deal or let Zubac walk.

The Clippers acquired Zubac from the Los Angeles Lakers on Feb. 7. He averaged 8.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists with the Lakers and Clippers while shooting 55.9 percent from the field.

All signs point toward the Clips keeping Zubac. The team likes his upside and has only Montrezl Harrell as another big man on the roster. The Clippers. who have two max slots, are hoping they can land Kawhi Leonard this summer and another max contract player.

The Clips lost to the Golden State Warriors in the first round of the playoffs in six games. LA made the postseason despite not having a single All-Star on the roster. Zubac put up just 5.0 points and 5.5 rebounds in the six-game series against Golden State.

Zubac, who is expected to be a crucial part of the the Clippers should he stay long-term, has to work on his game this offseason to take that next step in 2019-20
