According to Marc Stein of the New York Times, the L.A. Clippers have traded Wesley Johnson to the New Orleans Pelicans for center Alexis Ajinca.

Wesley Johnson is owed $6 million for the 2018-19 season and was one of the players likely to not make the opening day roster for the Clippers. In acquiring Ajinca, L.A. will save approximately $800,000 and waive the center. Additionally, L.A. will also waive Jawun Evans to trim their roster down to 15 players.

The Clippers had 17 roster occupied and needed to make two cuts by 2PM pacific today. They've now done that, and their opening day roster is set.

Meanwhile, the Pelicans have needed some depth on the wing, as they've often had shooting guard E'Twaun Moore play the small forward position.
