There is a level of pressure that comes with playing professionally in one's hometown, a risk Paul George knew well when he first asked to be traded from the Indiana Pacers in 2017. While he landed in Oklahoma City, it wouldn't take long before he found his way back home, now spending more time with his mom after being traded to the Los Angeles Clippers in the offseason.

Paulette George had her concerns about what returning to LA full-time would entail, but those worries have been calmed after the Palmdale native has fit right in during his brief time back. Both mother and son are loving this new setup:

“She loved it,” George told Mark Medina of USA TODAY Sports. “She wasn’t the biggest fan of me going back home due to family and everything that comes with being back home. But now that I’m here, she’s all for it and she loves it. I get to spend more time with my mom.”

The City of Palmdale has considered Dec. 29 to be “Paul George Day,” which is slated to include a festival, a clinic and shooting contests. PG-13 credits his mom for it:

“My mom is kind of the catalyst for it,” George said of the event. “She’s been the strength of it. It’s great to have something that she can call hers and be the face of. She’s very proud of it, and I’m very proud to be able to help for it.”

George's return to his old stomping grounds has been a success thus far, as the Clippers have won 14 of their last 17 games since he returned from offseason surgery.
