Shai Gilgeous-Alexander didn't have to wait too long on draft night to hear his name called being selected with the 11th overall by the L.A. Clippers.

It wasn't surprising for Gilgeous-Alexander to hear his name called in that position because during the entire predraft leadup, the  Los Angeles was the team that he felt most comfortable with.

“I met with a bunch of teams in Chicago at the (Draft) Combine, I feel like with the [Clippers] I was the most comfortable right off the bat,” Gilgeous-Alexander said to Howard Beck of the Bleacher Report.

“I just re-connected with those guys really early. Their whole staff, you start with Doc Rivers, who’s had some really good point guards in the past and guys that I’ve tried to model my game off of a little bit — Chris Paul and (Rajon) Rondo — so he obviously has a great mind and can give me some things and help me be the player I want to be.”

Gilgeous-Alexander is going to get every opportunity to be the next great point guard for the Clippers, and that is exactly what the team is hoping for with him.

Trading up is only going to put more pressure on the shoulders of the young Canadian but he doesn't feel the pressure as he is just trying to write his own story.

“I try to not to worry too much about following in other’s footsteps and just create my own path.”
