While Patrick Beverley has gained the reputation for tough defense and a no-nonsense demeanor, little to nothing compares to his Los Angeles Clippers teammate Kawhi Leonard.
Beverley called the All-Star forward and two-time NBA Finals MVP a “human machine” due to his work ethic.
Kawhi Leonard joined the Clippers last summer in a monumental, NBA landscape-shifting free agency decision. His departure from the Toronto Raptors and signing with the Clips also paved the way for LA to trade for Paul George with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Following that, Patrick Beverley — then a free agent as well — re-signed with the Clippers in order to build a contender for the Larry O'Brien trophy in 2020.
Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the normal trajectory of the 2019-20 NBA season, with the league shutting down operations in the middle of March.
The NBA restart is now scheduled on July 30, but with only 22 teams invited to an Orlando “bubble” campus. Sure enough, the Clippers are one of the teams invited and are now preparing to resume their quest for the franchise's first title in NBA history.
