The Los Angeles Clippers will likely fail in their bid to acquire Kawhi Leonard this summer, but the superstar forward might eventually find his way to the Clippers next summer.

The Toronto Raptors and the Los Angeles Lakers are reportedly the frontrunners in the race to sign Leonard this summer. However, the Clippers might still get him if they will be able to get another superstar, per Brian Windhorst of ESPN on Get Up.

Leonard remains as the biggest free agent available on the market. The two-time NBA Finals Most Valuable Player and his camp have yet to announce a decision four days into the free-agency period. The 28-year-old superstar flew to Toronto on Wednesday to give the Raptors a chance to make their pitch for his service.

Windhorst added that there is a chance that Leonard will sign a contract with the Raptors this summer but will hit free agency again next year to evaluate the situation of the two Los Angeles teams next summer.

At this point, the Lakers appear to be a more ideal landing spot because he can play alongside two superstars. The Lakers acquired Anthony Davis in a blockbuster trade to give LeBron James a huge relief.

They also found a way to clear cap space, which they could use to sign another max player like Leonard.
