The Chicago Bulls stayed aggressive right as free agency began when they completed a sign-and-trade for Pelicans guard Lonzo Ball. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Clippers have remained very quiet while they try and resign Kawhi Leonard who may miss all of next year recovering from an ACL injury.

For the time being, it appears the Clippers have shifted some of that focus into getting DeMar DeRozan, per Chris Haynes of Yahoo.

Free agent star guard DeMar DeRozan plans to meet with the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

The Los Angeles native, 31, has the Chicago Bulls courting him as well, sources said.

With Kawhi Leonard expected to spend the bulk of the 2021-22 season recovering from ACL surgery, adding DeRozan would be a top-level pickup.

The Clippers do not have the cap space to sign the four-time All-Star to a deal near his true value. It would take some major cap contorting to clear the necessary cap space.

For DeRozan, he'll have to decide if taking less money and going to the Clippers would be worth it. With a healthy squad, LA could be as good as it gets in the Western Conference with Leonard, DeRozan and Paul George. But with Leonard likely out for most of next season, it could be a throw away year for LA.

The Bulls appear more than ready to go all out in getting DeRozan from the Spurs and it would add to their core of Ball, Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic. The only thing left to see is if the Clippers or Bulls win this battle or if another team jumps into the mix.
