The Los Angeles Lakers debuted in their season home opener against the L.A. Clippers.

This series is always fun simply because the teams are playing for bragging rights if not anything else. The new look Lakers with rookie phenom Lonzo Ball stepped on the court ready to lead against the new look Clippers led by Blake Griffin.

Staples Center was packed Thursday night and buzzing with excitement as fans are eager to get a glimpse of the future of both teams.

Things didn't totally turn out as expected as nerves brought on turnovers, bad shots, fouls, and a bit of back and forth between the two teams. One of the biggest adjustments will be for forward Julius Randle who was moved to the bench in favor of starting Larry Nance Jr.

When Julius Randle's opportunity to hit the floor came, he was matched up with a stronger more polished Blake Griffin who had no regard for Randle and was determined to assert himself as the aggressor.

In one sequence, Griffin dribbled from the top of the key into the lane only to meet Randle at the rim ready to contest his shot. Griffin rose, and so did Randle. The Clippers star, however, didn't come down as quickly and threw down a thunderous monster tomahawk hammer over Julius Randle's head.

Needless to say, the Lakers forward will probably think twice about trying to block the more athletic Griffin in the open court the next time.
