The Los Angeles Clippers made the phrase “Lob City” a lifestyle during the heyday of Chris Paul tossing the ball up to the rim, just for Blake Griffin or DeAndre Jordan to come crashing down to earth with the ball rocketing through the hoop.

Those days are long gone as the trio are now fanned out across the league, but the new generation of Clippers is still kicking and trying to keep that legacy around. Insert rookie Landry Shamet lobbing the ball up for Ivica Zubac during the second quarter of Sunday's contest against the Memphis Grizzlies:

Ivica Zubac may not have the resume of a Griffin or Jordan to this point in his career, but he has started all 22 games that he has appeared in since his arrival from the Lakers back in February. Landry Shamet was also another young piece that the Clippers brought over during the middle of the season, coming from the Philadelphia 76ers in the deal that saw leading scorer Tobias Harris head east in exchange.

To dub Shamet and Zubac the modern version of Paul and Jordan is a stretch, one that even the team's most loyal fans would be hesitant to apply. However, as the new wave of Clippers players gets ready to take on the postseason, evoking the legends of the past shows how impressive the team's retooling has gone.

The Clippers face daunting odds amongst the Western Conference giants in a few weeks, but one way to topple giants is to just lob it over their heads.
