Gonzaga and Texas Tech face off in the Jerry Colangelo Classic. It's time to continue our college basketball odds series with a Gonzaga-Texas Tech prediction and pick based on Gonzaga Texas Tech odds.

Gonzaga started out the season as the top team in the nation before losing to Duke and Alabama. Drew Timme leads the team in points per game at 18.4 and also averages 6.2 rebounds a game. Chet Holmgren is averaging 13.5 points and 8.2 rebounds. He also averages 3.9 blocks per game which is good for 3rd in the nation. The Bulldogs need this win badly to get back on track. They are 8-2 on the season and still ranked 5th in the nation.

Texas Tech is playing very well this season sitting at 8-1 and No. 25 in the nation. After losing to Providence, they bounced back with a win over 13th ranked Tennessee. This will now probably be the toughest game of the season for the Red Raiders. Terrence Shannon Jr. and Kevin McCullar are both averaging 14.3 points per game and are leading the team.

Here is how FanDuel set the Gonzaga-Texas Tech lines for Saturday night.

Why Gonzaga Could Cover The Spread

Gonzaga can cover this spread by getting back to their old ways. Since their game against UCLA, Gonzaga hasn't been the same. They barely defeated a small Tarleton team and then lost to Alabama after that. Losing to Duke isn't much of a shame, but Gonzaga is better than the way they are playing lately. They are about to start conference play soon and we all know how dominant they are in the West Coast Conference.

The Bulldogs need Gonzaga is just 4-6 against the spread this year which is a surprise. They usually dominant everyone they play so they are favored by a lot more often than not. Gonzaga is averaging 85.6 points per game and allowing 64.6. If they can keep Texas Tech under 70 points then they should have no problem covering the spread. They need this win to get back on track.

Why Texas Tech Could Cover The Spread

This is a favorable spread for Texas Tech to cover. Keeping the score within 10 points isn't easy for any opponent when facing Gonzaga. The Red Raiders haven't faced much tough competition this season but they did play very well against a good Tennessee team. They need to build on that performance because of they play as they did against the Volunteers, then they will be in this game. Texas Tech plays in a competitive Big 12 conference with No. 1 Baylor and No. 7 Kansas. The Red Raiders need all the wins they can get right now.

Texas Tech averages 81 points per game and gives up only 58.9. They allow less than Gonzaga but the competition hasn't been as tough. The defensive effort is what is going to keep them in the game. Texas Tech is 5-4 against the spread this year and that could be a good reason to take the spread.

Final Gonzaga-Texas Tech Prediction & Pick

I'm taking Gonzaga to cover the spread and win. It's not going to be an easy one to cover for them because of how well Texas Tech is playing to start the season. I expect the Bulldogs to establish themselves once again and control most of the game.

Final Gonzaga-Texas Tech Prediction & Pick: Gonzaga -9.5 (-115)
