Alabama is many people's favorites to win the National Championship and they are one step closer to making that reality. After taking down Notre Dame with ease in the Rose Bowl on Friday, Alabama is now advancing to their fifth College Football Playoff Final.

Following a stop by their defense, Alabama struck first with a quick touchdown drive that ended with a touchdown by DeVonta Smith. Notre Dame's had no answers for Smith throughout the entire game, with the senior wideout finishing with seven receptions for 130 yards and three touchdowns.

It was Smith's third touchdown of the game that seemed to seal Notre Dame's fate in the third quarter. With a win on Friday, Alabama has now advanced to the title game for the eighth time in the CFP and BCS era.

On the other hand, Notre Dame continues to struggle in meaningful bowl games against superior teams. Since the 1998 season, Notre Dame has failed to remain close to teams in bowl games, losing by double-digits in each one.

While Alabama prepares for the National Championship Game, they have two Heisman Trophy finalists in Mac Jones and Smith. Depending on how the committee views Trevor Lawrence missing games due to COVID-19, the trophy will likely be given to an Alabama player.

Regardless of the number of players that leave for the NFL each season, Nick Saban continues to put together a dominant team every year. After their lopsided win over Notre Dame, Alabama will face either Clemson or Ohio State in the National Championship.
