Indianapolis Colts general manager Chris Ballard faced the media for the first time since Josh McDaniels opted to back out of his agreement to become the Indianapolis Colts head coach and stay with the New England Patriots.

After confidently answering questions about the whole messy situation, Ballard signed off with one final message in reference to McDaniels and the Patriots.

The Patriots vs. the Colts was, of course, the preeminent rivalry in the NFL for close to a decade. Legendary quarterbacks Tom Brady and Peyton Manning had some classic battles as they contended for AFC supremacy during the prime of their careers.

However, it has been a pretty one-sided rivalry ever since Manning left Indianapolis. The Colts are 0-7 against the Pats since 2010, including two blowout defeats during the playoffs. Although, the Colts stoked the embers of that rivalry in 2015 when they were involved in the big Deflategate controversy which has given grief to a lot of Patriots fans.

With the Colts’ lack of success against New England in recent years coupled with McDaniels’ decision to back out of becoming Indianapolis’ head coach, the animosity will certainly be back and stronger than ever on the Colts’ side from here on out.

As it just so happens, the Patriots are scheduled to face the Colts at New England sometime in the 2018 season. Chris Ballard and the Colts will definitely be circling that date on the calendar once the full schedule is finally released as they aim to get some revenge on their old rivals and McDaniels in particular.
