The Indianapolis Colts are signing defensive lineman Sheldon Day to a one-year deal, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

This marks the second defensive lineman that the Colts have poached from the 49ers this offseason, as they acquired DeForest Buckner in a trade with San Francisco earlier in free agency.

Day spent parts of the last three seasons with the Niners and is coming off of a 2019 campaign in which he played every game and logged 15 tackles and a sack.

The 25-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Notre Dame, was originally selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the fourth round (103rd pick overall) of the 2016 NFL Draft.

He appeared in every contest during his rookie year, but had a very limited role, finishing with just eight tackles and a sack. Day then began the following season with the Jaguars, participating in six games and totaling three tackles and a sack before being waived in mid-November of that year. He proceeded to sign with the 49ers, where he played in six contests and posted 16 tackles and a sack.

Day then appeared in 12 contests during his first full season with San Francisco in 2018, tallying 11 tackles and a couple of sacks.
