In just one move, the Indianapolis Colts just got a whole lot tougher on defense. Adding a guy like Stephon Gilmore can do that for your football club.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, former Defensive Player of the Year Stephon Gilmore is now heading to Indianapolis.

Five-time Pro-Bowl CB Stephon Gilmore, the NFL’s 2019 Defensive Player of the Year, reached agreement on an two-year deal with the Colts, per source.

The details of the deal were released just minutes later in what is an overall reasonable figure for the Indianapolis side considering they're locking up a five-time Pro Bowler and two-time All Pro stud in Gilmore.

Comp update: Colts are giving CB Stephon Gilmore a two-year, 23 million deal including $14 million guaranteed, per source.

The move has been gaining some steam in the past few days as Gilmore reportedly had a “great visit” in his meeting with the Colts just before the actual signing was made.

Stephon Gilmore has taken a step back after his sterling 2019 campaign when he was named the most dominant defensive player in the NFL. But that “step back” still resulted in two Pro Bowl appearances in shortened 2020 and 2021 campaigns.
