Wide receiver Allen Hurns is now a free agent following his release from the Jacksonville Jaguars. He was scheduled to make his first free-agent visit with the New York Jets on Wednesday. However, he has been forced to make some changes to that schedule due to inclement weather which has canceled Hurns’ flight to New York.

As a result, Hurns is now set to visit the Dallas Cowboys first, with the Jets following immediately after. That is, if he doesn’t secure a deal with the Cowboys.

Hurns is not exactly hurting for interest from other teams after his release from the Jaguars. Around 10 teams have reportedly reached out to the free-agent wide receiver already. Even if he doesn’t strike a deal with the Cowboys or the Jets, he’s bound to get one fairly soon.

That’s despite Hurns’ significant dip in production over the past couple of years. After a blistering first two years in the league where he had 115 catches for 1,708 yards and 16 touchdowns, Hurns has recorded just 74 balls for 961 yards and five touchdowns in the last two seasons.

There’s clearly a belief around many teams in the league, including the Cowboys, that Hurns can still be a contributor. Dallas certainly needs some upgrades at wide receiver after getting some disappointing production at that position last season. Aside from Dez Bryant’s continued decline in play, Cole Beasley also suffered a precipitous dip after leading the team in receptions in 2016.

If Hurns does come over to Dallas, he should at the very least provide some added depth to quarterback Dak Prescott’s array of receiving weapons for next season.
