Amari Cooper has been a monster since being acquired by the Dallas Cowboys last year from the Oakland Raiders. Since then, he has been able to be a consistent source of production for the team. Unfortunately, that production did not show up this afternoon against the New England Patriots.
In a huge matchup against the defending Super Bowl champions, Cooper did not make an impact on the game. He actually didn't make a single catch against the Patriots. That was the first time he has failed to make a catch in a game since being acquired by the Cowboys, according to a tweet from SportsCenter.
Needless to say, not having Cooper make an impact was a big part of the Cowboys losing to New England by a final score of 13-9. It was an ugly game, but it was one that Dallas really needed to win. With the loss, the Cowboys fell to 6-5 on the season, while the Patriots improved to 10-1.
At the beginning of the season, the Cowboys were talked about as a potential Super Bowl contender. That hype has since faded, but they still feel confident that they make a late-season run.
Cooper will need to step up throughout the remainder of the season. If the Cowboys are going to make the run that they want to make, they cannot afford to have nine-point offensive performances.
Next up for the Cowboys will be a matchup with the Buffalo Bills. Cooper will be looking to bounce back with a big-time performance.
