Dallas Cowboys backup quarterback Andy Dalton was ruled out for his team's intra-divisional matchup with fellow NFC East club Philadelphia Eagles today, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.
The Cowboys, facing long odds to get the season back on track, are down to their third-string quarterback, rookie Ben DiNucci, for the time being, including Week 8 of the 2020 NFL regular season against the Eagles.

Dalton was removed from last week's game after taking a brutal hit from Washington Football Team linebacker Jon Bostic. DiNucci, 23, replaced the former Cincinnati Bengals Pro Bowl passer and finished the game completing two of three tosses for 39 yards in the Cowboys' fifth loss in seven games.
With star quarterback Dak Prescott sidelined for the season after a compound right ankle fracture, the Cowboys have begun a fire sale ahead of the NFL's trade deadline (Tuesday, Nov. 3) since Dalton went down, too. In the last week, America's Team traded defensive end Everson Griffen, signed in the past offseason, to the Detroit Lions for a conditional sixth-round 2021 NFL Draft pick.
Further, the Cowboys released defensive tackle Dontari Poe and cornerback Daryl Worley. Team owner Jerry Jones had some sour words for Poe on his way out, calling the defensive player out of shape and overweight.
While it's unclear whether Dalton will regain the reins of the Cowboys offense in Week 9 against the Pittsburgh Steelers or not, Jones hinted the other day that the signal-caller should be “okay” for the matchup between two historic NFL franchises.
The Eagles, at 2-4-1, host the Cowboys in what will be the former Pitt product DiNucci's first pro star of his young career.
