Dak Prescott is not making any excuses for the Dallas Cowboys' brutal defeat to the San Francisco 49ers in their Wild Card game on Sunday. The veteran QB has been largely criticized and blamed for the loss, and as he said, he should be.

Prescott accepted responsibility for the loss, admitting that he did not play up to the standard that was expected of him. While the defense had their own shortcomings, it's the offense that really doomed the team—highlighted by their controversial playcalling in the end.

During his postgame presser following the heartbreaker, Dak Prescott shared his frustration about the loss. And instead of pointing fingers and defending himself against the criticisms, he acknowledged his own failures.

“Not good enough. I take accountability for this loss. I’ve got to be better,” Prescott said, per Jon Machota of The Athletic.

Prescott also echoed the sentiments Cowboys owner Jerry Jones had about the 23-17 defeat. Jones highlighted how disappointed he is of the loss, pointing out that a Wild Card exit isn't what they expected from a group with as much talent as the 2021 Dallas squad.

“We definitely underachieved. And it sucks,” Prescott furthered.

The disappointing loss leaves the Cowboys with plenty of questions heading to the offseason. Will they make a coaching change? Is Dak Prescott the QB who can lead them to the Super Bowl? However, only time will tell what they are going to do.
