After seeing a truncated stint last season due to a broken ankle, Dallas Cowboys star Dak Prescott wants nothing less than a rousing return this year.

Prescott only played five games last campaign. What made it even more frustrating was the fact that he was playing at a high level before he got sidelined. He threw for 1,856 yards with nine touchdowns in the five outings, on pace for an MVP season.

But all of those are in the past now, and the 28-year-old quarterback is motivated to bounce back. Prescott will face an early acid test as the recharged Cowboys visit Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on opening night. While it will be a huge challenge for someone coming off a serious injury, Prescott is not selling himself short (via Jon Machota of The Athletic).

“Obviously, I have high expectations for myself. I plan to come out starting fast. I’ve said before, I don’t necessarily want the numbers that I had that early because we weren’t winning games and we weren’t being competitive early, and that’s why some of those numbers came about. I plan to come out better than I was last year, to be honest. That’s just the work that I’ve put in going all the way back to February when I got back on the field. I’m excited for it.”

Prescott has shared his road to recovery through social media and Cowboys fans are thrilled to have him back. He's not expected to be at full strength in their first few games, but the former Rookie of the Year should still do damage.

Dak Prescott and the Cowboys will battle Tom Brady and the defending champions on Thursday.
