Dalton Schultz and the Dallas Cowboys agreed on a one-year deal worth $10.931 million back in March, which would ensure the team the services of the sure-handed tight end for at least the duration of the 2022 NFL season. But of course, Schultz is far from satisfied, as he remains looking for an extension deal that appears to be unlikely to land on his table — for now.

Cincinnati Bengals safety Jessie Bates, Kansas City Chiefs offensive tackle Orlando Brown, Miami Dolphins tight end Mike Gesicki and Dallas Cowboys tight end Dalton Schultz are aiming for long-term pacts, but deals do not appear imminent for any of the quartet, NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported Friday.

Schultz was a force downfield for the Cowboys in the 2021 NFL season, as he produced exactly the way anyone on an expiring contract would want. He finished the campaign with 808 receiving yards and eight touchdowns on 78 receptions and 104 targets, emerging as among the most consistent weapons on the field for Dak Prescott, who was always on the lookout for Schultz to make things happen when the Cowboys were inside the red zone. In fact, Schultz led the Cowboys last season with five touchdowns when targeted inside the 20-yard line. (He was targeted there 12 times and caught eight.)

At only 25 years old, Schultz is still very much in his prime, which is a big factor for the Cowboys to consider when thinking about whether to give him the extension money or risk losing him when he hits free agency in the future.
