Throughout much of the early offseason, there has been constant trade chatter surrounding All-Pro safety Earl Thomas' future with the Seattle Seahawks. It has seen the Dallas Cowboys remain in the picture as a potential landing spot given his previously expressed interest in the team during last season.

However, the asking price that the Seahawks has placed on him in any deal has significantly quieted that chatter around the 28-year-old. According to veteran NFL reporter Ed Werder, the Cowboy still have some interest in Thomas but that will only persist if Seattle lowers its trade demands.

The Seahawks may be looking to part ways with Thomas before his contract expires after the 2018 season, but the team is looking to get as much back in return for him while they can. The front office may be forced to lower that asking price given the lack of true market for the Pro Bowler in order to get a deal worked out with the Cowboys or any other team for that matter.

Thomas is still playing at an elite level coming off yet another highly productive campaign where he notched 88 total tackles and a pair of interceptions in 14 games played despite dealing with nagging injuries. Through his first eight seasons in the league with the Seahawks, he has established himself as one of the premier players at his position behind six Pro Bowl selections, three First-Team All-Pro nods, and two Second-Team All-Pro selections.

The Cowboys still possess the need to address their situation at safety that could eventually lead to them making a more serious push to acquire Thomas after the draft this week. The mutual interest on both sides could also see them just wait it out until next offseason where he could join the fray via free agency. There are several different routes that Dallas can take with this situation that could see him wind up with Thomas, but at this moment there doesn't seem to be an urgency to make that come to fruition.
