The Dallas Cowboys aim to reclaim the NFC East title once again. To do so, they'll have to hold off the Philadelphia Eagles as they should challenge them throughout the year. For Dallas, the run game should be featured once again, as Ezekiel Elliott hopes to improve off his previous season. However, his contract situation might make for a shaky future with the franchise.

According to Jon Machota, Elliott doesn't seem to be worried about his contract right now. Instead, the Cowboys running back is focusing on the upcoming season. Dallas has a real chance to compete for a championship this year and Ezekiel Elliott is going to play a major role. Worrying about his contract situation won't help.

On top of that, it's not like Elliott isn't being paid a ton of money. However, the Cowboys have an out on his contract in the 2023 offseason. His dead cap hit drops from over $30 million to just under $12 million next offseason, per Spotrac.

Although being released is a real concern next year, Ezekiel Elliott is smartly focusing on the upcoming season instead. We'll see how he bounces back in 2022, as injuries prevented him from reaching his full potential. If Elliott can play his best, then the Cowboys will be a legitimate problem in the NFC.

Keep an eye on Ezekiel Elliott throughout the offseason. His health is needed for Dallas to maintain relevance in the league. Considering the Cowboys are stacked on both sides of the ball, this team should make some noise all year long. Especially if Elliott is focused on football more than his contract situation.
