Last week, the NFL handed out a six-game suspension for the 2017 season to Dallas Cowboys star running back Ezekiel Elliott due to violating the league's personal conduct policy.

In an expected move on Tuesday afternoon, the 22-year-old officially sent to the league his appeal to the suspension, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.

Elliot now has 10 days to schedule an appeal hearing following his decision to file an appeal. The NFL has given out the lengthy suspension following an over year-long investigation. It had been reported over the weekend that Elliott was putting together a sizable counter case against the suspension that centered around what he believes to be a lack of credibility from his ex-girlfriend, Tiffany Thompson.

He is expected to target Thompson supposedly making multiple threats that she was going to ruin his NFL career along with a few text message that encouraged one of her friends to lie to law enforcement about the alleged domestic assault that took place back in July 2016.

If the entire suspension is upheld up, this would prevent him from taking part in any team activities beginning on Sept. 2 and would not be able to play until the Cowboys' Week 8 matchup against the Washington Redskins on Oct. 29.
