The Dallas Cowboys can clinch the NFC East with a win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, which makes the timing of Dak Prescott's poor health status that much more cumbersome.

Prescott has been dealing with multiple injuries, whether it's a sprained left wrist, an injured right index finger or, most recently, an AC joint issue in his throwing shoulder.

On Wednesday, Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott said that he has had an AC joint injury in the past and can't imagine throwing with it, according to Ed Werder of ESPN. However, he added that he has no doubt Prescott will play this weekend.

Prescott is coming off of a solid performance in a blowout win over the Los Angeles Rams in which he completed 15 of his 23 throws for 212 yards and a couple of touchdowns.

It wasn't Prescott's most impressive outing of the season, but it was efficient, and it was more than enough to get the job done in the pivotal 44-21 victory.

On the season overall, Prescott has thrown for 4,334 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions while completing 65.5 percent of his passes and posting a passer rating of 99.3.

The 26-year-old looked like a top MVP candidate earlier in the season, but the Cowboys' second-half slide has put Prescott's MVP hopes on hold and has probably ruled him out of a conversation that also includes Lamar Jackson and Russell Wilson, both of whom have their respective teams in first place in their respective divisions.

Dallas is 7-7 on the season and will be facing a desperate Eagles club that owns the same record this Sunday.
