The Dallas Cowboys are looking like potential contenders next season and their offense is expected to take a big step forward. Jason Witten wasn't a part of last years team after deciding to retire and join the broadcasting booth, but now he has decided to return to the team.

According to a report from Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, Witten has decided to end his retirement and has rejoined the Cowboys to be the tight end that they needed last season.

Dak Prescott and the Cowboys' offense took a huge step forward in 2018 after making a move for Amari Cooper. He was the true No. 1 target that Dallas desperately needed.

Back in 2017 with the Cowboys, Witten ended up catching 63 passes for 560 yards and five touchdowns.

After taking a full year off, Witten will be returning to the field much more rested than he has been. Dallas head coach Jason Garrett tried to convince Witten to come back in the middle of last season. Witten did not end up making that move, but it was obviously enough to convince him to do so this offseason.

It will be interesting to see how much Witten has left in the tank. His broadcasting career did not get off to a hot start, with many viewers not enjoying what he brought to the booth.

Now, Witten will have the chance to get back on the gridiron and let his game do the talking. He won't be asked to be the focal point of the Dallas offense, but having his consistent production will be a big addition.
