The Dallas Cowboys this season finished off the season losing to the Los Angeles Rams by a score of 30-22. This was in the divisional round. The team was not expected to win, however, owner Jerry Jones and head coach Jason Garrett knew they had to make some personnel changes coming into this season

Jones told the team's official site that they have signed former quarterback Jon Kitna to their staff. This addition muddies the waters in who the team will have call plays on offense coming into next season.

Garrett is a defensive-minded head coach and has usually delegated the offensive play-calling elsewhere. However, it seems like Jones is pushing a “play call by committee” approach and is unsure of the chain of command. Kellen Moore is also on staff as well. Or even Garrett might return to calling plays. The organization's desires remain unclear.

Jones said, per David Helman of the team website:

“We’re still in the throes of evaluation. We’re in no hurry. I like the guys we’ve got in house. (Garrett's involvement in the offense) could be more or less.”

Head coach Garrett had called the shots back in his first two years with the team. After 2012, he delegated those duties to Bill Callahan and then Scott Linehan. Linehan was fired but two weeks ago as offensive coordinator, so it remains to be seen what direction the team takes as it goes to leadership offensively.

Last season the Cowboys finished 10-6 in the regular season and finished first in the NFC East division.
