In the last few months since being released by the Dallas Cowboys, former Pro Bowl wide receiver Dez Bryant has remained afloat in the free agent market that has extended through the first month of the regular season.

This long period of time has pushed Bryant to take to social to state that would consider a return back to the Cowboys if the scenario presented itself. However, team owner Jerry Jones voiced during an interview on 105.3 The Fan on Friday morning that is currently no possibility of the 29-year-old rejoining the team. (h/t Herbie Teope of NFL.com)

I'm know I'm the one to ask as a response to that, but as you know, we're friends,” Jones said, via the radio station's website. “To say the least, we're friends, and I have a lot of pride in where [Bryant] is relative to our relationship as it pertains to him as an individual. And so I mirror feelings of that nature.

“It just seems like [Bryant] is a Cowboy, but we've got to look at what we're all having to deal with and that is what's in the best interest of the team. So, that's a different story there.”

This eliminates any chances that Bryant could have had at a return to the franchise this season and likely beyond that as they have moved on from him. There is a strong respect for what he accomplished during time with the team, but the team has stuck strongly with going on another path without his services.

This isn't a shot at Bryant by any means but rather that the page has been turned on his time in Dallas that should shut the door on him being a member of the Cowboys once again. It now pushes him forward toward looking at other opportunities that may present itself like the Cleveland Browns did to begin the year.

The clock looks to be ticking as it has been through the first four weeks without him landing with the team that could draw more questions if he will have another chance to continue his NFL career. Only time will tell if that will come to fruition, but what is clear is that Cowboys are out of the picture.
