The Dallas Cowboys are set to wrap up a successful regular season with a matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday. Despite Jerry Jones voicing his desire to play all of the team's starters in the regular-season finale, it seems there's a good chance America's Team will be down one crucial player. Per Michael Gehlken, Cowboys star rookie linebacker Micah Parsons has been placed on the COVID-19/Reserve list, putting his status for Week 18 in doubt.

While the Cowboys already have a playoff spot locked up, the team wanted to keep its momentum rolling and deploy its starters for the finale. Parsons, unfortunately, now looks destined to miss out on the action, which would mark the first game he's been sidelined for throughout his NFL career.

While resting Parsons may not sound like a bad idea, the Cowboys are already thin at linebacker. Their depth chart lists Francis Bernard and Jabril Cox as the two backups to Parsons, but both are already dealing with injuries of their own.

Replacing Parsons will be no easy task, as the rookie has been the heart and soul of Dallas' defense. Parsons has recorded 84 tackles, 13.0 sacks, three forced fumbles, 2o tackles for loss and 30 quarterback hits in 2021, wreaking havoc in the trenches on a weekly basis. Jalen Hurts and Co. will be relieved not to have to match up against the Cowboys' superstar rookie, who had a strong outing against the Eagles in Week 3.

Cowboys fans may be disappointed not to have No. 11 available for the season finale, but they should just think of his absence as a well-earned week of rest ahead of the team's playoff run.
