Earlier this week Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said that the team didn't need a rushing champion to win a title, but Michael Irvin isn't buying the fact that the team doesn't need Ezekiel Elliott. Irvin told TMZ that the team would not be winning a title without Elliott or as he says, they won't “drink the sweet nectar of a championship again.”

“I know for a fact before Jerry Jones leaves time and go to eternity, he wants to drink the sweet nectar of a championship again,” Irvin told TMZ Sports. “And, that nectar he will not partake in without Ezekiel Elliott.”

Irvin thinks the team could still have some success and be an exciting time, but they won't be making it to the promised land.

“You may win games. You may sell tickets. And, you may make some money,” Irvin said. “But that nectar, you will not drink without Ezekiel Elliott.”

Irvin also seems to side with Elliott because he thinks that running backs haven't been treated fairly in the league, and Elliott should do everything in his power to get the money he deserves.

“NFL has told all running backs over and over again, ‘We will squeeze you, we will use you, and we will discard you,’” Irvin said. “So, now, he's saying, let me get mine while I'm riding the wave hot.”

The hope is still that Elliott and the Cowboys will reach a deal before the season starts, but if not Elliott has said he will extend this holdout into the regular season.
