The Dallas Cowboys are 6-7, yet owner Jerry Jones has not made any changes to the coaching staff. It appears as if Jason Garrett and Co. will be around until the Cowboys take their last snap of football in 2019.

The expectation is that Garrett will not be re-signed after the 2019 season when his contract ends. However, that's not a guarantee. According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, a playoff run could prevent the Cowboys from parting ways with the current coaching staff.

Said Rapoport on Sunday on NFL GameDay:

“It does appear to be heading to a divorce. The only way, from what I understand, that Jason Garrett could save this is to make the playoffs, go deep into the playoffs, likely to the NFC title game.”

Though sitting at 6-7, the Cowboys are currently in-line to make the playoffs. Their only true competition in a weak NFC East is a 5-7 Philadelphia Eagles team, who lost to Dallas earlier in the year. The Eagles will face the 2-10 New York Giants on “Monday Night Football.”

Not only will Garrett have to keep that playoff spot for the Cowboys, but he would also have to spark a momentous run. Dallas will face the Los Angeles Rams (at home), the Eagles (in Philadelphia) and the Washington Redskins (at home) to close out their season.

The Cowboys entered the 2019 season as Super Bowl contenders. After the first month of play, that held. However, they have skidded recently, dropping their last three matchups, facing the New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills and Chicago Bears.
