The Dallas Cowboys are still searching for an offensive coordinator after parting ways with Scott Linehan after their playoff exit, and one candidate is Kellen Moore, who served as the team's quarterbacks coach this year.

With Jon Kitna coming in as the Cowboys' new quarterbacks coach, however, it seems that Moore is poised for a larger role within the offense, and Dallas executive vice president Stephen Jones likes what he brings to the table:

“I think this day and time with what these young guys are doing, they've shown guys can step into this type of job and this type of work,” said Jones from Senior Bowl practice on Tuesday, according to Kate Hairopoulos of The Dallas Morning News. “I think Kellen, his background speaks for itself. I think he still holds the record for most games won in Division I football. Grew up in a football family. His dad was a coach, and the guy's got a great football mind. You talk to the people in the room with him day in and day out, they wouldn't argue that either.”

Jones also added that a young guy like Moore might be able to reach the team differently:

“You obviously see it around the league with some of the young, talented coaches,” Jones said. “When they get opportunities, they run things a little differently than their proteges or the people they had a lot of respect for. But given the opportunity, they do things a different. I think our young guys, not that they don't have a tremendous amount of respect for Scott [Linehan], but given their opportunity, to do things a little different.”

The Cowboys won 10 games and captured the NFC East division title this season, but ranked just 22nd in the league in offense.
