The Dallas Cowboys and superstar quarterback Dak Prescott have been trying to figure out a new contract for quite some time now. Due to that, there have been a lot of rumors and reports swirling around.

Of course, not everything is true. But that does not stop people from discussing each one as it gains a life of its own.

That happened once again earlier when it was reported that Prescott turned down a five-year deal that was worth $175-million. A massive deal.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport on Twitter though, this report on Prescott and the Cowboys was not real.

Let's be honest, it's hard to argue with that tweet right there. It's not like Rapoport is just guessing. In fact, Rapoport is not even just reporting what one side is saying.

The reporter has gotten word from the team side and from Prescott's agent that this was not the case. The tweet called the report “definitely not true”.

According to Rapoport, the two sides never even really discussed a deal like that. At the time, Dallas wants to work on a long-term deal. Meanwhile, Prescott is looking for a short-term deal.

This is a situation that could take quite some time to figure out. With that in mind, expect to hear a lot more rumors on Prescott's contract situation with the Cowboys. And you shouldn't expect all of them to be true.

Even with the knowledge that there will be some false reports though, it's going to be hard not to discuss them. It's so easy to get thrown into an argument or discussion whenever a new report comes out. So this saga could still give us quite a bit more content.

For now though, be wary. Rapoport has confirmed this particular report is false. So keep your eyes and ears open for whatever comes next.
