The Dallas Cowboys have expressed an interest in two-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders, according to Jane Slater of NFL Network.

Sanders last played with the 49ers in 2019, but he trains in Dallas in the offseason. He's expressed mutual interest in becoming a Cowboys talent, per Slater.

The wideout played his college ball at Southern Methodist University and is already familiar with the Dallas metro area, making this connection a familiar one.

Sanders was shipped from the Denver Broncos to the Bay Area mid-season, helping the Niners reach the Super Bowl. He played 17 games last season, crossing over to the Bay Bridge once the Niners had their bye week.

The recently-turned 33-year-old caught 66 passes for 869 yards (13.2 yards per catch) last season. While he's no longer the high-caliber target he was in his heyday, he's still a productive route-runner and has proven sure-handed with age.

While this won't be a Deion Sanders crossing over from San Francisco to Dallas, a move that caused shockwaves in the Bay Area, this could be a move the Niners could come to regret if they let this Sanders walk away.

Emmanuel Sanders can play a sound No. 2 role in Dallas, next in line to Amari Cooper — who just signed a five-year, $100 million deal to serve as the Cowboys' top target man.

After losing Randall Cobb to the Houston Texans in free agency, prying Sanders from the Niners' hands could help the Cowboys reignite a rivalry that has been lost for decades.
