The Dallas Cowboys were in desperate need of a spark after falling behind against the Chicago Bears in Week 14. Fortunately, linebacker Jaylon Smith was able to oblige.

The Cowboys offense failed to get anything going once again following a quick three-and-out. Linebacker Joe Thomas managed to give the ball right back to them after poking the ball out from running back David Montgomery that was picked up by Smith, via NFL Twitter:

The play could not have come at a more pivotal time for Dallas. They were able to take full advantage with a nine-play, 54-yard drive that was capped off by a touchdown run from running back Ezekiel Elliott.

Although the play did leave a glimmer of hope, it may have come a bit too late for the Cowboys to potentially secure a comeback. The defense will need to cause a few more turnovers if they hope to leave enough time on the clock.
