The Chicago Cubs will begin a big four-game series with the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday at Miller Park. We're here to share our MLB odds series, make a Cubs-Brewers prediction, and pick while showing you how to watch.

The Cubs are hanging around in the National League Central race. Yet, they have also lost some ground over the last week and will need to do everything they can as they play a major series in Milwaukee.

The Brewers are currently leading the National League Central division. After losing Craig Counsel to the Chicago Cubs in the offseason, many expected the Brewers to regress. Instead, they have continued to thrive and look to build more distance between themselves and the Cubs.

The Cubs took two of three from the Brewers last month at Wrigley. Conversely, the Brewers have done well against the Cubs at Miller Park, going 4-3 last season, 5-4 in 2022, and 7-2 in 2021. Both teams will attempt to deliver with great pitching to help garner the edge in the first game.

Justin Steele starts for the Cubs. He is 0-2 with a 5.68 ERA. Recently, he went 6 1/3 innings while allowing five earned runs on six hits while striking out five in a loss to the Atlanta Braves. Steele has struggled over his last three starts, allowing four or more runs in each start. Furthermore, he is 2-2 with a 2.24 ERA over 13 games in his career against the Brewers.

Robert Gasser starts for the Brewers. He is 2-0 with a 2.65 ERA. Recently, he went six innings while allowing four earned runs on 10 hits in his last start. It will be his first time facing the Cubs.

Why The Cubs Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Cubs' offense has been inconsistent. Yet, they are still managing to find ways to score runs and get runners on the basepaths. Chicago has some playmakers who can do some damage.

Nico Hoener has been a constant threat. Yet, he is only hitting .220 with three home runs, 16 RBIs, and 13 runs over 45 games. Horner also hit .385 (5 for 13) with one home run, three RBIs, and two runs over three games at Wrigley against the Brewers. Meanwhile, Michael Busch will look to get some offense going against the Brew Crew after going 3 for 12 with an RBI against them last month.

Dansby Swanson is a hitter who has some power to him. Ultimately, he is batting .255 with 42 hits, eight home runs, 26 RBIs, and 23 runs over 45 games against the Brewers. But Cody Bellinger may be the key for the Cubs. Substantially, he has had a long and storied career, hitting .279 with 36 hits, seven home runs, 26 RBIs, and 20 runs over 37 games against the Brewers.

The Brewers will cover the spread if their hitters can piece together some hits and force some long at-bats against Gasser. Then, they need their pitching staff to get the job done and limit the damage.

Why The Brewers Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Brewers have done a good job of getting enough offense to win. Overall, they have some players who can bash the baseball and some who have done much of that against the Cubs.

Rhys Hoskins will not be available. Unfortunately, he is still dealing with a strained hamstring. Willy Adames will need to do more. So far, he is batting .250 (5 for 20) with three RBIs and a run over his past five games against the Cubs. Christian Yelich is solid and has done well against Chicago in his career. Overall, he is hitting .279 with 118 hits, 17 home runs, 62 RBIs, and 70 runs over 113 games against the Cubs.

Jackson Chourio has driven runs but is not hitting well for average. Yet, he hit .333 (3 for 9) with two runs scored against the Cubs last month. William Contreras is having an amazing season. Furthermore, he has hit .333 (6 for 18) with two RBIs and three runs over his past five games against the Cubs.

The Brewers will cover the spread if they can piece together some hits. Then, they need their pitching staff to avoid making critical mistakes against the Cubs.

Final Cubs-Brewers Prediction & Pick

The Brewers covered the spread in two of the three games at Wrigley. Now, they will have a chance to win at home and put more distance between themselves and the Cubs. But Steele has done well in his games against the Brewers. Moreover, Gasser is still relatively green and might have issues facing the Cubs in this one. Expect this game to go down to the wire, with the Cubs covering the spread on the road against their divisional rivals.
